David Esson Young grew up with the Uchucks, coastal freighters that have serviced British Columbia's coast for more than sixty years.  He will be giving a talk based on his award winning book, 'The Uchuck Years - a West Coast Shipping Saga' at the Museum on Saturday, May 25 at 1pm.  From doing odd jobs to skippering his own boat, Young learned every facet of the boats and their business and travelled up and down this often treacherous coast.  The Uchuck Years abounds with stories and fond memories of unique coastal characters, including logging camp bosses and genius engineers. It is an enthralling historic account of one of BC's most fascinating regions, written by someone who lived most of his life in the heart of it.
