• A garage opens to service the town's growing population of automobiles.

 

• Campbell River's first bank, the Canadian Bank of Commerce, opens for business.

 

• Frank Lalondes's new taxi/stage company begins delivering passengers and freight between Campbell River and Courtenay.

• Population of Campbell River: 500

 

• Campbell River gets its first drugstore.

 

• The first sawmill opens in Campbell River.

1924

 

• The Tyee Club of Campbell River is formed. 

• In a meeting held at the Willows Hotel, five fishermen formed the Tyee Club in an effort to standardize salmon fishing in B.C.  Membership required fishermen to land a spring salmon over 30 pounds using light tackle and a row boat.  Pictured here are the first elected Directors of the Tyee Club - Left to Right: Melville Haigh, Walter P. Miller, A. N. Wolverton, Dr. J. A. Wiborn and Sir John Asser.

• A new public school replaces the school house on the hill.  It has 2 teachers and 58 pupils and cost $8500 to build.
