The Festival of Trees is now open at the Museum at Campbell River.  The outpouring of support from the community has resulted in more trees than ever before.  There are twenty eight decorated trees in the Museum’s Changing Gallery, each sponsored by a different business or organization.  “The transformation of the space is quite magical” explains Museum Promotions Coordinator Erika Anderson, “It’s so rewarding watching someone walk into the room for the first time and stand there in silence just absorbing all of the beauty around them.  It certainly puts you in the Christmas spirit!”

The night before the trees opened there was voting on three categories – the Most Whimsical Tree, the Most Elegant Tree, and the Most Sustainable Tree.  After the votes were tallied, the award for the Most Whimsical Tree went to United Floors & Avenue for the Home with their tree “Gnome for the Holidays”.  The award for Most Elegant Tree went to Broadstreet Properties and Seymour Pacific Developments for their tree “White Christmas”.  The Most Sustainable Tree award went to the BC Oceanfront Real Estate Team – Ed Handja Personal Real Estate Corporation and Shelley McKay Personal Real Estate Corporation – Royal LePage Advance Realty for their tree “It’s a Coastal Lifestyle…Live it!”. The BC Oceanfront Real Estate Team also won the People's Choice Award.

There is still one more award to be given, and that is the People’s Choice Award.  From now until Sunday December 15 everyone is invited to come and vote for their favourite.  While you are there don't forget to put your wish on the Wishing Tree!

The Festival of Trees is open daily in December from 10-5 (excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day) and admission to see the trees is free.

The Museum is located at 470 Island Highway, at 5th Avenue.  For more information go to www.crmuseum.ca or call 250-287-3103.
